Mayor of Winchester opens the Basics Bank new storage facility
Winchester Basics Bank recently officially opened their new sorting and storage base at Gabare House in Winnall, with the Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Vivian Achwal and the Dean The Very Revd’ Catherine Ogle in attendance.
The Winnall site replaces the temporary storage site at the Vineyard Church, which the Basics Bank moved into at the start of the pandemic to accommodate the increased demand for storage and to allow for social distancing throughout the pandemic.
Food and clothes hubs continue to be open for WBB clients at the Vineyard Church in addition to three other food hubs in Weeke, Highcliffe and Alresford meaning food is available every day from Monday to Friday. The Gabare House site supports these hubs and allows for greater storage and larger donations to the Basics Bank.
