Winchester Food & Basics Bank successfully defend title at annual Pancake Race
After the success of the Souper Heroes team in 2025 winning the best costume prize, the Winchester food & Basics Bank successfully defended their title at the Rotary Annual Pancake Race held in front of the Cathedral on Tuesday 17th February 2026.
The team (aptly named “Which came first?”) consisted of 2 eggs, a chicken and a farmer. The subject matter was not chosen by chance; in 2025 WFBB gave out 12000 eggs to local residents in need.
The team, made up of Anna, Kat, Mike and Angus, managed to complete the relay in 1 minute 6 seconds but just missed out on one of the 4 fastest times to be able to reach the semi-finals. Given the costumes that was not unexpected.
Instead the Mayor of Winchester voted the team the best fancy dress on display and they were presented with a commemorative wooden spoon which is now proudly on display in the warehouse.
